Dog Toy of the Month Club

Posted by Kimberly on 31st August 2008

Well, I’ve never seen a Dog Toy Of The Month Club before today…

However, what an AMAZING idea!

To many of us, our dogs are like our little, furry children…My dogs get sooo excited for a new toy, and they easily demolish a few per month with 5 of them in the household…So, I’m always spending my time trying to find fun and durable toys for them.

This club would take the guesswork out of it, and spare me the time of searching through the stores for Unique Dog Toys!

We tend to get the same types of toys over and over, as they are the ones that are either cheapest, since we replace toys so often, or because they are the most durable…Time or Money Savers…

With this Premium Dog Toy Club, we could probably save both! You are never sent the same toy twice throughout the lifetime of your membership!

It works just like a wine, beer, cigar or book club in that you get a dog toy every month…You can even choose the best plan to fit your dog and your budget!

Great concept…I love this and give it a Terrie Lover thumbs up!

Staples Compared to Stitches in Dog Surgeries

Posted by Kimberly on 14th August 2008

Just at first thought, you would think that dissolving stitches would be smarter for a dog to have after a surgery.

I too, thought this, especially after first seeing Knosey’s staples after her emergency surgery (see post: Knosey is in Serious Condition!!!)…The staples, which numbered 20, looked barbaric at best…

However, my mother’s dog, Precious had the dissolving stitches after being spayed, and her incision wound became so infected, she had at least 2 courses of antibiotics…

Knosey’s wound after surgery, with staples intact, looks very clean, non-irritated, and nearly healed. It will be 2 weeks from the surgery on Sunday morning.

She will have her staples out on Monday, and I think she’s ready for that.

The vet gave her 2 different antibiotics to take in unison, and she finished them days ago already, and I am positive this helped her immensely too.

Now, even though the staples look so awful that they might make you cry thinking about them, it seems to me that they may be more hygienic and easier than the dissolving stitches.

Let us know what your experience has been with either method by commenting in the Comment Box Below!

Missing Your Pups

Posted by Kimberly on 16th July 2008

It’s so funny…You try to put on a brave face before you leave for a short trip, when you’re leaving your pups with family or a friend.

Firstly, how hard is it to actually leave the house? They have been pouting by your luggage since you lugged it out…

They have been sitting in front of the door, so as not to miss your exit…Hoping, praying that they might be coming with you! Then, trying to sneak out the door, like they belong amongst all of your bags, only to be swept back in…

You aren’t gone but a few hours before you miss those bright, little faces with their cute mouths, button noses and warm tongues.

I’ve been gone for 2 wks from the pooches this time, and I’ve been missing those little sweethearts since I drove out of the driveway to the airport.

Their incessant “shake-a-paws”, their dropping the toys at your feet in the hopes that you’ll want to play…all day long…LOL…

Have you ever left a message on the answering maching for your dogs? I can’t even lie…I certainly have!!! I have seen how they react to them when playing messages when I arrive home…They recognize voices, so I hope to give them a little bit of comfort and hope when I talk to each of them on the machine!

Have you told your family member or friend to give your pups kisses and hugs before you get off the phone for the bi-daily puppy report? LOL…I do…LOL…

It’s like a soap opera with my 3 pups, that if you miss a day, you feel like you’ve missed an eternity!

They are so special, and we are so blessed to have them in our lives for too short of a time…and I don’t want to miss anything!

Does Your Terrier Have a False Pregnancy?

Posted by Kimberly on 26th May 2008

Have you ever heard of this phenomenon?

My vet filled me in, that female dogs can have false pregnancies, meaning they go through all the things a pregnant dog would…They gain weight, they can even start lactating…In fact, some dogs may even go into false labor.

Knosey NestingDogs, especially, will even build nests for their non-existent puppies…Poor Knosey…She was convinced she was going to have puppies…We have nests everywhere, and she takes building them very seriously. It’s so darling! Plus, she has this chubby, little belly…

Whoa…Are you serious? That’s terrible…Having to go through a pregnancy and no pups to show for it…Sheesh!

This condition is also called “pseudocyesis” and is common in mammals, especially dogs, cats and rabbits (even in humans). It is thought that this condition occurs to Read the rest of this entry »
