Posted by Kimberly on 31st December 2007

One of my good friends, Deirdre, on Facebook emailed me this tonight, and I needed to share it with you quickly…

Read on to save Cairn Terriers in Need…

honey-bunny.JPG“I have some close friends that volunteer for the CP Cairn Rescue group. They are hard working individuals that go to puppy mills and auctions and take as many of the dogs as they can and place them in safe homes. This takes a lot of money … especially since almost all of the dogs required alot of medical treatment when they are rescued.

This group is currently involved in a ‘contest’ for donations. The group that receives the most number of donations (not the overall dollar amount) will have Yahoo match the donations. They reeeeeeally need the money in order to continue saving these dogs from a life of cruelty and suffering. PLEASE – the minimum donation is $10.00 (and is tax deductable) and the contest ends TOMORROW! Please, please, please give! They are currently in 2nd place … but only by a few donations.

Follow this link and donate to CP Cairn Rescue Group:

Glen of Imaal Terrier Puppy And Dog Information
By Mitch Endick

The Glen of Imaal Terrier comes from Ireland where she was used to hunt foxes and badgers and keep farms free of vermin. She is a short legged dog designed to go down burrows after critters. The Mysterious Kerry Blue Terrier

Posted by Kimberly on 9th September 2007

The Kerry Blue Terrier is one of the most mysterious breeds of terriers. This is because of the fact that even though the breed has been known by the Irish for at least 150 years, nobody really knows where they came from or how they were first bred. They are also coined as the Irish Blue Terrier.

Various legends are told in order to explain the appearance of the Kerry blue terrier breed. Some say that the peasants bred them for hunting purposes since noblemen monopolized the use of wolfhounds. Thus, noblemen hunted with their wolfhounds, while peasants poached with their KBTs.

Another legend speaks of Read the rest of this entry »

They are dogs which performed well as hunting dogs, retrievers, guards of the farm and house and simply as a companion during the history of the breed, which originated in the country of Ireland. In the days when the Wheaten terrier was admitted into the Irish Kennel club, the requirements for attaining a championship title included requirements to perform in the area of “expertise” for which the dog was supposed to function.

The American Pit Bull Terrier

Posted by Kimberly on 4th September 2007

American Pit Bull Terrier Large PosterThe American Pit Bull Terrier has been under much scrutiny in years past. They have been dubbed as having a very aggressive nature, and their sheer strength and size has been bred for purposely.

Often, American Pit Bull Terriers are favorites in illegal dog fights for their brawn, fearlessness and aggression, as most of these dogs fighting have been raised specifically for that purpose.

I am not nearly an expert on this subject, so I found a good background article to get us started…(* Neutrality of this article is questionable.)
