This is a tad of a rant, but more of a plead to students getting pets while they are in college or university…
My niece is in college for Nursing and just moved in with a student, who is also in the Nursing program at the same school.
They got along wonderfully beforehand and my niece took her time to get to know the girl, stay at her place and evaluate whether she’d be happy living there before she moved in.
Well, she’s been there for just over 1 month now, and is looking to move out to get her very own bachelorette apartment.
Why?
Her roommate’s boyfriend gave her a Boston terrier puppy for Christmas, and it was originally agreed upon that this puppy would live at the boyfriend’s home the majority of the time.
The puppy is now staying at the girls’ apartment full-time.
So?
Being a student in college, especially in a rigorous Nursing program, you are gone most of the day. Also, it’s the nature of the game that you are probably going to have to work as a student in college. Correct?
What Does This Mean?
It means that the puppy is left the entire day with no one to teach it, or care for it. In fact, she is not even crate training the pup.
The Roommate’s Expectation:
That my niece, her roommate, should take on full responsibility for training, walking and caring for the pup when she is not there.

I’ve been asked a lot of questions about training for Boston Terriers.
Apparently, many owners are finding that their pooches are barking with ear-piercing frequency, turning in circles, jumping up on people visiting, etc.
It can be difficult when guests come over, and it can also be downright embarrassing when your dog misbehaves.
However, we all know how much you truly love your Boston…You just need a simple set of guidelines to train them to behave…
It can be done and supposedly, can be done overnight! I’ve found this extremely helpful, if not life-changing, training specifically for Boston terriers.
Of course, it’s always better to start training your Boston terrier when they are puppies, but that doesn’t mean you can’t teach an old dog new tricks…You can train your pooch at any age!
That’s good to know, as the average age of a Boston terrier is 13 years old.
If you REALLY need to change your dog’s ways, or are looking to start off on the right foot with a Boston puppy, check out the AMAZING Secrets of the:

I went for a walk a few days ago on the pier in Port Dalhousie, and came across the cutest little Boston Terrier.

His name was Winston and he was black and white tuxedo with some brindling effect on his bottom.

What I loved about Winston is how friendly he was, especially with children and other dogs that were walking by.
Winston’s best feature…His tongue. Bless his heart, he has nerve damage that causes his tongue to hang out to the side almost 100% of the time.

However, what is his “handicap” to some, is his most endearing quality to me…

As a term of endearment, they sometimes call him Winsock, because that’s what it would sound like if he were to say his name with his tongue out like that…LOL…Good sense of humor!
He is a happy guy with amazing owners, John & Dianne, that just love him to death!
* They promised to send me these photos of Winston to show with this post…I’m so glad they did!

Photo above: Yummy
I’m sure you’ve fallen in love with him, just like I did!

Along with Boston Baked Beans, comes Boston Creme Pie…and (drum roll please) The Boston Terrier! I’m sure the Boston Terrier wouldn’t mind eating the beans or the pie either…
.
…Always fashionable at parties wearing their “tuxedos”, Boston Terriers are the second most popular of the terrier breeds as companion pets. Now that’s saying something! They were also the 1st US breed to be recognized by the AKC back in 1893.
* Interesting Fact: Boston terriers are prone to “reverse sneezing” since they have such a short snout and an elongated palate. They will gasp and snort in a laborious manner, scaring themselves and their owners alike. Food or liquid may get caught underneath the elongated palate, which hinders their breathing and irritates their throat. It should spontaneously resolve, but you may help them by Read the rest of this entry »
