Knosey Had Her Staples Out Today

by Kimberly Edwards on August 19, 2008

Terrier Newsflash:

Well, the vet said that the incision looks good and the area is not infected, and Knosey’s weight is normal.

Poor Knosey though…Apparently, it’s not fun getting your staples out.

She was very uncomfortable and wincing when they were cut…It didn’t feel much better being pulled out either…She was not a happy schnauzer!

There were 3 of us holding her down as the vet took them out…

She bled slightly out of a few of the holes, but the vet said that they will heal up quickly…Probably within the next 24 hrs or so.

Bless her heart…She is happy and perky, wanting to eat and play. We are so very happy she is alright now.

Thank you to the Niagara Veterinary Emergency Clinic for saving Knosey’s life 2 weeks ago!

I hope you enjoyed this Terrier Newsflash on Terrier Lover! Until next time…

Thanks so much for your pyometra articles. My Yorkie Sophie (a retired momma I adopted from my breeder that I am so guilty of not spaying – a risky and expensive lesson I have now learned the hard way) was diagnosed with Pyometra at 5:15pm Friday and by 9pm and $5200 later, had the same surgery as Knosey. I felt the same way about the staples as you wrote so I did an image search to see if all looked right. Your site popped right up and although we only have a dozen staples (Sophie is likely smaller then Knosey I guess), the incision looks exactly identical. That gave me comfort since the vet told me not to clean it and it is making me so uncomfortable as her is to close to the ground. Any tips for recovery? My little one is older – she’s 10 but she is tough. I think she will pull through ok.

I’m so glad my article gave you some sort of comfort. It’s such a frightening thing to deal with when it comes to your babies.

I hope Sophie is alright at this point – please let us know if she is…I’m grateful I posted the information I had immediately, so it could be of some assistance to others.

Yes – this is also a very pricey surgery – and looks like your pooch waits until the weekend like ours seem to do all the time. The visits to the emergency veterinarian are so much more costly! :(

But all that matters is that they’re alright! Please update us!

Kimberly :)
