I was shocked to hear this too, as my little ones have loved grapes for a long time. We have never had an apparent problem, as we know.
Our dogs have lived to be 18 yrs (Cock-a-poo) and 18 yrs (Cairn Terrier) respectively, and now we have a 12 yr old (Westie-poo), and 4 young Miniature Schnauzers, the oldest of which is 4 yrs old.
However, they get such a diverse diet, and we try to give them different fruits, vegetables, seeds and nuts.
So, in my thinking if grapes and raisins are said to cause acute renal failure, we can cut the grapes & raisins out of the mix.
The cause is unknown, but this acute danger was discovered around 2000 and has only been slowly publicized since. It is unknown if that includes sultanas and currants as well.
So, before you give your pooch 1 more grape or raisin, think twice!

that’s interesting to find that out, because Kaptain has been telling us for years that he doesn’t want to eat them….it’s like one of the few things he just doesn’t want to have anything to do with.
Funny,

I am so shocked about this! Wow…I won’t be feeding my babies any more grapes or raisins!
Who knew? Your vet should make sure you are well aware of this!
